It was an emotionally charged event that evoked and stirred the emotions of the audience regarding the challenges faced by women living with Advanced Breast Cancer in Malaysia. The official launch of Pink InspirerS, a group for women living with Advanced Breast Cancer, by BCWA and Pfizer Malaysia took place in Kuala Lumpur on 8 February 2018.
Also present at the event were Ms Noor Yang Azwar Kamarudin, Director, Corporate Affairs, Health & Value of Pfizer, and Ms Ranjit Kaur, President of BCWA and mentor for Pink InspirerS.
Some of the founding members of Pink InspirerS, namely, Chu San, Susanna Wong, Crystal and Jessica shared their experience, hopes and aspirations of facing the challenges of living with Advanced Breast Cancer.
Pfizer Malaysia donated a sum of RM60,000 to BCWA to develop training and guidance on psychosocial peer support among women living with Advanced Breast Cancer, effective communication with clinicians, educate the public in order to reduce social stigma regarding ABC and to empower Pink InspirerS to take charge of their lives. This project will be rolled out in stages throughout Malaysia.
Pink InspirerS are a group of women living with advanced breast cancer who cope with daily challenges, support each other and inspire others with stories of their battle with the disease. They stay in touch with each other electronically to share experiences, expectations, hopes and aspirations. Pink InspirerS also participate in advocacy activities to improve access to healthcare for individuals with advanced breast cancer.
