Together Towards Wellness

Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia is the oldest Malaysian NGO dedicated to supporting newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, promoting survivorship and advocacy as well as educating the public on the need for the early detection of breast cancer.

Who We Are

Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA Malaysia) or Persatuan Kebajikan Kanser Payudara Malaysia is a non-profit and tax-exempt organisation founded in 1986 by a team of medical specialists to provide peer support to women with breast cancer. We were registered with the Registrar of Societies Malaysia in 1988. BCWA Malaysia is a member of the Union for International Cancer Control, Global Focus on Cancer, Advanced Breast Cancer Global Alliance, Reach to Recovery International and the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organisations Alliance.

What We Do

Our philosophy, that an individual can use her lived experience of breast cancer to help another woman facing similar challenges, has seen BCWA Malaysia innovating and extending its reach to as many people as possible in the country. We are managed by an Executive Committee and staff members, with support and advice from experts in the field of breast cancer and the corporate world as well as legal advisors. Volunteers lend their time and efforts to implement the activities of the Association.

Support

We provide psycho-social and informational support to individuals newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Share

We strengthen the capacity of breast cancer survivors and their caregivers, helping them cope and manage effectively during and after treatment.

Educate

We promote public education on the early detection of breast cancer and conduct free Clinical Breast Examination for women above 20 years of age. We also teach people of all genders how to perform breast self-examination as a routine to avoid a late diagnosis of breast cancer.

Our Vision

A world without untimely deaths from breast cancer.
