Extending a Hand in
Every Way We Can

Support

We train breast cancer survivors to help other women and send our patient support teams on referral by doctors at government and private hospitals to provide bedside visits.

Wigs On Loan

Women undergoing chemotherapy may experience temporary hair loss; to avoid purchasing expensive hairpieces, wigs are available on loan at no charge.

Comfy Kit

Each newly diagnosed woman receives a Comfy Kit consisting of information and rehabilitation materials. The Comfy Kit is also available for distribution to all breast cancer support groups in Malaysia.

The Message of Hope Book

We provide a physical and digital option for The Message of Hope book, which is an A to Z guide of what to do when you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This essential guide is available in 3 languages; Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese.

Peer Support

Face to face peer support is also available by appointment at BCWA’s office and by telephone or virtually. Individuals with breast cancer, care givers and/or family members and/or friends can benefit from group sharing sessions on the third Saturday of the month at the BCWA office.

Temporary prostheses

Women who require temporary prostheses post-surgery are provided this resource for free, which is hand sewn by BCWA’s Thimble Thumbs sewists.

The PRAMA Project

This initiative provides free prostheses and mastectomy bras to women who may otherwise lack access to these vital post-surgical resources. These items are more than physical aids — they are essential tools in helping women restore dignity and comfort in their daily lives.

Share

BCWA organises regular sessions by experts on breast cancer to improve knowledge and the quality of life for individuals affected by breast cancer. Patients get practical information on managing themselves after diagnosis, during treatment and after treatment is completed. Topics include financial and insurance literacy, as well as health education, dietary advice, pregnancy for cancer patients, sex and intimacy and much more.

BCWA Workshop Series

This is a continuous learning initiative to empower breast cancer survivors, patients, and caregivers with practical knowledge and emotional support to navigate life during and after treatment. Through expert-led sessions and peer sharing, the series creates a safe space for education and connection.

Pink Clubs

BCWA has a choir of breast cancer survivors (Pink Melody), a bowling team (Pink Power) as well as a sewing team (Thimble Thumbs) that creates the temporary prostheses provided in the comfy kit.

Exercise and Wellness

We also organise exercise and wellness activities open to survivors, caregivers, and members of the public. Dance and yoga classes, walks and hikes, as well as mindfulness and mentoring sessions are available to all.

Educate

BCWA promotes public education on general health and breast health issues, including early detection of breast cancer, and conducting FREE Clinical Breast Examinations. Women aged 20 and above are encouraged to do breast self-examination and clinical breast examinations as a routine to avoid a late diagnosis of breast cancer.

Public Education and Awareness

BCWA’s Community Outreach team provides breast health education and free clinical breast examinations through our Mobile Unit Reaching Nationwide with Information (MURNI) mobile clinics and Inflatable Mobile Clinics.

Networking, Collaboration and Advocacy

Our patients’ voices are amplified through our partnerships with the public sector, NGOs, medical institutions and relevant government ministries with the aim of improving the quality of life and healthcare of women affected by breast cancer.

Training and Development

By providing students and professionals with insights into the way we work, BCWA helps strengthen the capacity of future generations of healthcare workers.
